The summer months are rapidly
approaching. That means fun in the sun and plenty of outdoor
enjoyment. Swimming is one of the great activities in summer, another
activity is to sit out in the sun and tan. A fine line exists between
getting a tan and getting sun burned. Your skin can be potentially
harmed if you get a little too much sun.
The key to having fun in the sun is
moderation. The last thing you want to go is to get a little sun and
come out looking like a lobster the next day. Never mind the fact
that this is embarrassing and slightly painful, the long term affects
of constant exposure to ultra violent radiation have lead to various
forms of skin cancer.
A worse case scenario for many but you
should be careful what you do right out in the summer months when you
work on your tan. Some people tan while others burn more easily than
others. A natural tan in the summer is nice, but sun block is
required to an extent so you don't burn. If you do not want to bake
in the sun, keep a healthy dose of sun block right on you at all
times. Follow the instructions on the bottle and make sure you use
enough of the recommended dose.
Also, even with sun block, it may be
unwise to remain outside during the hottest part of the day for more
than an hour. If the sun is out and the temperature is higher than
ninety degrees Fahrenheit or around 32 degrees Celsius, it would be
wise to moderate your time out in the sun to only around an hour or
so.
Some final tips to block most of the
sun damage. An area many do not consider to get burned is the top of
the head. Therefore wearing a hat while outdoors can minimize a great
deal of the sun damage. Also, sunglasses are a necessary degree of
protection.
We all want to have fun during the
summer. Your health is something that should not be neglected for any
reason. When going outside, prepare to deal with sun damage and
between the time of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, you may want to remain out
of the sun unless you can. If you have a job that requires work
outside in the heat, then sunblock is something that may be needed.
Have a nice and safe summer , and a healthy one.
