where some smokers burn through a pack or even more a day. Smokers
may know this deep down but they either choose to ignore that fact or
simply do not care. Knowing that you are going to have a long and
uphill battle before you reach your final destination of actually
quitting.
The best path is
to start gradually smoking less. Your body will become less dependent
on the rush that nicotine gives you. Eventually you will have your
smoking habit down to a light minimum and with a little luck, you
will have completely pushed it out.
Electronic
cigarettes are another alternative. The theory is that they will have
many of the same effects, with the exception of the health risks. At
least that is the theory regarding electronic cigarettes. Any health
risks for the long term have not been proven completely by current
data regarding on electronic cigarettes. However, they replicate the
look and the feel without many of the more dire health risks.
Nicotine patches
and gums are another alternative to cigarettes. It can stimulate the
feel of nicotine, the addiction, while gradually cycling you off.
These may be short term fixes and may not be considered to be a
viable alternative for some individuals who wish to give up smoking.
Regardless nicotine patches and gum exist and give you the ability to
stop smoking should you desire.
Medication to help
smokers quit exists, but this should be used with the greatest
discretion. Many times, the use of medication may just be replacing
one vice with another and you will become addicted to the medication
just as much as the nicotine rush off of your cigarettes. Consult
your doctor and see if such a method is right for you.
Many people smoke
and many people attempt to quit that vice. Some individuals succeed,
while others tend to try and give up when they do not see immediate
results. Hopefully these tips will help you should you decide to quit
smoking.
