Exercising While Watching Television


Living an active lifestyle is of the utmost importance to your long term health and well being. Many individuals understand that deep down. Yet, there is a difference between understanding and doing. There are some people who swear up and down that they will be more active, right after their favorite television program is over. Little do these people know that there are exercises that can be done as they kick back and watch some television.


Exercises That Can Be Done While Watching Television

So you don't want to pull yourself away from the idiot box as some call it. Well that is hardly an excuse for not rather getting in a workout. Just kick right back up and consider these potential exercises you can do while catching up on your favorite program or just as you watch the morning news.

Sit ups are a rather great form of exercise to be done. You can do the old hands behind the head situps, the old arms folded across the chest version of a sit up, or the old, arms straight out like you're reaching for the remote sit ups. Regardless of what you do, sit ups are a good starter exercise for those who want to be active.

On the other end of the spectrum, push ups can also be done while watching television. Push ups might come across as a tad more difficult than sit ups depending on the individual. Regardless this is a viable form of exercise to do, when sitting back and watching television.

Weight lifting is another form of exercise which you can multi task in as you watch some television. You don't have to be have insane amounts of weights. Just three to five pound small weights, where you can do curls. No need to break the world bench press record. The aim here is to remain at optimal health.

If you have a stationary bike, a good place is to pop that bad boy down in front of the television. That way, as you watch television, you can also ride the old stationary bike in an attempt to burn off those calories. Not a bad idea, as you do not have to leave your house. Plus you can ride the stationary bike and not run the risk of crashing like you would a normal bike.

Any kind of stretching exercises are also an excellent idea. Like lunges, squats, anything simple like that. It is an essential idea to stretch to begin and end each exercise, so working those types of exercises in are essential.

Exercise should be a part of your routine, even if you have to work it into your television watching routine as well.
