Caffeine is a
rather popular indulgence. Many of feel the urge to drink a cup of
coffee or a soda to kick start our day. It is a process which tends
to really get us going. Or so it seems? In reality, caffeine does
give us a false sense that we have energy. It is a boost that can
burn you out rather quickly and just leave you feel more drained.
For years and
years, I drank a lot of Pepsi. Obviously, it can be very addictive
and tastes great. Not bad to have one can every now and again but
some people drink five and six cans a day. In addition, they may also
drink about three eight ounce bottles each and every day. It does not
have to be Pepsi, it could be Coca-Cola or any other brand name of
soda out there. Coffee is another big one.
Yet, I moderated
my habits, until I all but cut out the soda drinking and any other
caffeine. Even the so called caffeine free colas have their own
potential health risks.
So, without
further delay, let us talk about what caffeine can do to you. If you
drink it too early in the morning, too late in the day, or really the
potential health risks will be discussed. This is based on my
experiences, so obviously some people may vary.
The Health Risks and Affects of
Drinking Too Much Caffeine.
First let us talk
about the health risks of drinking caffeine too early in the morning.
The substance does tend to supercharge your body. The result is much
like a bottle rocket going off. You will go rather high, rather fast.
Then there comes the explosion and the crash. You feel a bit tired
during the day, a bit winded. Some people feel they need their
morning cup of coffee to get going, which is their choice. They
should moderate it also with with a glass of milk, juice, or water,
to balance it out a little bit.
Then let us talk
about the health risk of drinking caffeine too late in the day.
Indulgence too late in the day has another set of consequences all
too itself. As bedtime comes, you are going to find yourself unable
to sleep. As we know, a restless night of sleep can be a huge issue
for sure. Lack of rest leads to more health problems and even more
stress.
A number of
consequences come with drinking too much caffeine. For one, your body
tends to really get sweaty really easy. It tries to burn through
water reserves that you do not have in you. Caffeine makes you retain
water as well and causes you to bloat. Plus you may get headaches and
the blood flow of water to your brain is compromised. This could lead
to potential hearing problems. Plus, overindulge in caffeine can make
you stressed and want to attack people or worse at the smallest
thing.
Should you drink
any caffeine? That's an interesting question and that is up to the
person. A little soda or cup of coffee might not hurt. If you
moderate it with other things that will hold back the substances
within it. If you must drink it it is best done during the day and
not done alone. Food and another drink should be done along with it.
So, let us sum
this all up. Caffeine too early in the morning and too late in the
day is potentially bad for you. There are a number of health
consequences as outlined above. Yet, caffeine can be done in
moderation. However, it should only be done if you have the self
control to hold yourself back. Despite what many people think, it can
represent a vice.
